There are so many bible curriculums that it can be overwhelming. We have both taught bible classes through the years, often using resources such as Faith Foundations. Several years ago, Melissa began using Bible Study Guide to complement and enhance the Faith Foundations curriculum giving the kids some hands on experience.
We are now in the process of helping organize the curriculum with the oversight of our education minister and elders for 1st-5th grade. While it is a bit daunting and overwhelming it is an exciting process!
The Bible study guide is perfect for congregations that teach the same lesson to a wider age group.
These are the steps we followed to help our congregation get the materials organized and available in our resource room.
We ordered materials for our students (Primary & Advanced Student Pages). We also ordered one set of Advanced Answer Key and one set of Primary Teacher Guides.
Then we set to work scanning everything. This is only for the purpose of our home congregation! We uploaded the items to google drive enabling us or the education minister easy access to send files to teachers when you need a quick fill in or sub occasionally. It also helps the Sunday and Wednesday teachers to be able to "see" what was taught previously since we are following the curriculum chronologically unlike the order it is presented.
Share the numbers of lessons with chronological guide. We grouped the numbered lessons according to this chart. We divided up the sections and then began working up the lessons.
We made labeled envelopes for each lesson and laminated for longevity. On the label I left a blank for lesson number giving us some added flexibility to add/take out lessons depending on the time frame for each quarter.
After preparing the lessons to teach I realized into how much detail this curriculum goes into. You have to dig into the scriptures to find the answers. And the best part we learn so much in the preparation.
